Choosing An Option For Primary Years
Children in England can start school in September of the year they will turn five. In the year before this, your Local Authority should send you information about how to apply for a primary school reception place, along with details of all the local mainstream primary schools in your area. You can also find this information in the education section of your local authority website.
Your child doesn't have to be in full-time education until they reach compulsory school age, which is at the start of the term after their 5th birthday.
Choosing a school isn’t easy for any parent but there is certainly a lot more to consider when you have a child with SMA. We hope this section will help you understand the system so that your child learns well and has a happy and safe time at school.
