Wish Granting Charities

This section lists some of the charities which offer to fund ‘wishes’ for children who are very ill or who are living with a disability. We use their wording to describe their aims, what they may offer and to whom, but please do check their websites before you decide to apply as funding available and priorities can change:

Dial a Dream: aim to make the dreams of children aged 3 - 18 years, suffering from a diagnosed life limiting and life-threatening illness, become a reality. They may organise such ‘wishes’ as contact with celebrities or fund holidays.
www.dialadream.org or phone: 0208 530 5589.

Make a Wish Foundation: create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Whether it’s starring in their own films, walking with dinosaurs, going on an amazing holiday, meeting a celebrity hero, or having a bedroom makeover; our wishes are varied, personal and life-changing. Children with Werdnig-Hoffman’s Disease (SMA Type 1) are eligible. Other children with SMA are considered on a case by case basis.

Promise Dreams: aim to make a real difference to children who are seriously or terminally ill. Every child has a dream and whatever it may be we aim to make it come true - whether it be to go on the holiday of a lifetime and spend time with their siblings following extended hospital stays, the chance to meet their celebrity hero, a specially adapted trike to enable them to join in on family bike rides, or essential equipment and resources for their home. In fact, anything that will make life happier and easier for the family in need. Eligibility criteria includes: children from birth to age 18 with SMA. www.promisedreams.co.uk or phone 01902 212 451.
